diathesis flower, Bleeding diathesis is a medical term for bleeding and bruising more than normal. Everyone gets bruises or cuts that bleed a bit, and it’s not unusual to see a spot of blood on your toilet paper. The term “diathesis” comes from the Greek word for disposition (“diathesis”). In the context of the diathesis-stress model, this disposition is a factor that makes it more likely that an individual will develop a disorder following a stressful life event. This model posits that individuals with a genetic vulnerability, or "diathesis," may develop disorders such as depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia when faced with significant emotional or physical stress.
